Career
On 3 September 2012, he was on training (Junior Scale) at LBSNAA Mussoorie. On 25 April 2013, he was appointed as Assistant Collector (Junior Scale) at Bilaspur, Chhatisgarh. He then worked as SDO (Junior Scale) at Kanker, Chhattisgarh from 14 August 2014 to 3 September 2015. He was designated as Under Secy (Junior Scale) at School Edu Deptt, Raipur. On 1 January 2016, he was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer at Panchayats Deptt. In 2020, he was appointed as the fifth collector in Surajpur, Chhattisgarh.

- In May 2021, Ranbir’s video went viral for slapping a man for violating Covid-19 protocols, and Ranbir even smashed his phone on the ground. Later, Ranbir Sharma apologized in a video for his misbehavior. He said,
The boy first said he is going for vaccination, however, he showed a receipt that wasn’t related to vaccination. He then said he is going to meet his grandmother. I slapped him in the heat of the moment. I never had any intention to disrespect or belittle the person in the video. In this pandemic situation, district Surajpur along with the entire Chhattisgarh state has been facing the irreparable loss of lives.
