Tandi Wright

Tandi Wright is an accomplished Kiwi actress who is best known for starring in the television series Shortland Street (1996), Seven Periods with Mr. Gormsby (2005), and  Nothing Trivial (2011). Apart from being an accomplished actor, she also works as an intimacy coordinator.

Tandi Wright was born on Monday, May 4, 1970 (age 50 years; as of 2020), in Zambia, East Africa. She did her schooling at Wellington High School, New Zealand. Since Tandi’s parents belonged to the entertainment industry, she got inclined towards acting at a very young age. At the age of six, she secured herself a role in the television series Governor Grey (1976) in which she played the role of one of the grandchildren of George Grey. In 1993, she got herself enrolled in an acting course at Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School in Wellington, New Zealand. After the completion of her acting course at Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School, Tandi Wright began her career as a theatre artist, meanwhile, polishing her skills at Shakespeare’s Globe, London.

Television

At the age of six, she made her television debut with the show Governor Grey (1976) in which she played the role of one of the grandchildren of George Grey. In 1996, Tandi Wright made her television debut with the adventure Series in which she played the role of Ingrid. In the same year, she came into the limelight with New Zealand’s popular soap opera Shortland Street in which she played the role of a nurse, Caroline Buxton. In 2006, she came into the limelight with the Kiwi television series Seven Periods with Mr. Gormsby in which she played the role of Fenn Partington.

In 2011, she played another prominent role in her career in the television series Nothing Trivial in which she played she played the role of Catherine Duvall, an attractive, intelligent, and acerbic doctor who specializes in medicine, science, and anything about France.

In 2015, she starred in the Australian–New Zealand comedy-drama television series ‘800 Words’ in which she played the role of Laura Turner. Her other prominent works include Crash Palace (2001), Willy Nilly (2003), Serial Killers (2004), The Lost Children (2006), This Is Not My Life (2010), etc.

In 2015, she starred in the American web series The Returned in which she played the role of Claire Winship. The storyline of the series revolves around the residents of a fictional town Caldwell whose lives get disrupted when their long thought dead loved ones begin to reappear.

In 1984, Tandi Wright made her film debut with ‘Iris.’ Thereafter, she appeared in various films like Raising Waylon (2004), Not Only But Always (2004), Black Sheep (2006), etc. In 2006, she gained popularity with the New Zealand crime drama film Out of the Blue in which she played the role of Julie-Anne Bryson. In 2012, she appeared in the film Kiwi Flyer as Karen which earned her a nomination in the category of  Best Actress Award (2012) at the Film Awards.
