She was born in a Muslim family. Her father, Touqeer Hasan Khan, is a choreographer in TV serials. Her mother passed away when she was a kid. Her younger sister Saniya Touqeer is an actress too.

Career

Sumbul started her career as a child artist. She has participated in various TV reality shows.

In 2011, she played the role of Shubhada in Sony TV’s serial ‘Chandragupta Maurya.’ In 2013, she appeared in the popular TV serial ‘Jodha Akbar’ in which she played the character of Mehtab. She has also acted in the TV serials ‘Waaris’ in 2016 and ‘Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein’ in 2019.

In 2018, she appeared in the Hindi short film ‘Ghar Ki Jyoti.’ She acted in the popular Hindi film ‘Article 15’ (2019) starring Ayushmann Khurrana. She came into the limelight with the Star Plus serial ‘Imlie’ in which she played the titular role in 2020.
