In 2017, she participated in the beauty pageant ‘Miss India Elegant’ in which she won various titles like Miss Photogenic, Miss National Glamour, Miss Popular, and Miss India Elegant North. She has worked as a model at ‘Kaalia International Modeling Agency’ in Bangalore.

Controversy
On 22 April 2021, she was arrested by Hubli Police for her involvement in her brother’s brutal murder case. Earlier, four suspects including Niyaz Ahmed Katigar (21), Tousif Channapur (21), Altaf Mulla (24), and Aman Giraniwale (19) were arrested in the case.

Reportedly, her brother was murdered in the same house in which she lived, and the whole scene took place when she was out for the promotion of a film. According to sources, Shanaya had a love affair with one of the convicts Niyaz Ahmed Katigar. Shanaya’s brother, Rakesh was opposing their relationship, and then Niyaz Ahmed Katigar and Shanaya planned his murder. Rakesh’s body was cut into several pieces and dumped in various parts of the Hubli city. His decapitated burnt head was found from the Devaragudihal forest area and the remaining body parts were found in Gadag Road and other areas in Hubballi, Karnataka. [4]India Today[5]Zee News
