Pratibha Singh Baghel is an Indian singer and theatre artist who made her television debut with the musical reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge (2009). As a theatre artist, she has played the lead role of ‘Umrao Jaan,’ in the theatre play ‘Umrao Jaan Ada- The Musical,’ and ‘Bahar’ in ‘Mughal-e-Azam: The Musical.’

Pratibha Singh Baghel was born on 4 January in Rewah in Madhya Pradesh, India. She started learning Indian classical music when she was 13 years old, from her guru (teacher), Late R.J. Pasana. At the age of 18, she completed her degree in the field of music also known as ‘Sangeet Prabhakar.’ Thereafter, she learnt music from Dr. Suhasini Sathe for some time. [1]Facebook

Career

In 2009, Pratibha Singh made her television debut with the Indian musical reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge. She was one of the top finalists on the show and belonged to Shankar Mahadevan‘s team- Lakshya Gharana.

Pratibha Singh made her debut as a singer with the movie Issaq (2013) in which she lent her voice to the song ‘Jheeni Re Jheeni.’ In 2014, she participated in the musical reality shows;  Zee Cine Stars Ki Khoj, and Zee TV’s Mega Challenge. Thereafter, she lent her voice in various films such as Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya (2014), Zid (2014), Luckhnowi Ishq (2015), Bollywood Diaries (2016), and Shorgul (2016). In 2017, she played the role of ‘Bahar’ in the theatre play ‘Mughal-e-Azam: The Musical’ which won seven awards, including the Best Indian Play Award at the Broadway World India Awards 2017.

In 2019, she lent her voice to the movie ‘Manikarnika: The Jhansi Ki Rani’ for the songs ‘Rajaji’ and ‘Tak Taki’ which were tremendously loved by the audience. In the same year, she portrayed the mesmerising role of ‘Umrao Jaan’ in the theatrical play ‘Umrao Jaan Ada- The Musical.’ She was the lead actress as well as the background singer in the play. Not only in Delhi and Mumbai, but the event was a sold-out in London as well. The play received an overwhelming response when it was performed at Sadler’s Well’s Theatre, London.

In 2020, she lent her voice in the web series ‘Bandish Bandits’ which premiered on Amazon Prime Video.

    Although I love singing all genres of music, I have a special place for Ghazals.’

  • Since childhood, Pratibha was passionate about singing. She started singing at age of just three and it was her father who encouraged her to enter the world of music.
