Ashwath Sezhian is a British-Indian doctor, Instagram storyteller, and author. He has written two books, ‘An Affliction of Orchids’ in 2019, ‘When Varun Met Meera’ in 2021 and also more than a hundred short stories on Instagram to his audience of just over 40,000.

He is the eldest child of two, and the son of a transplant surgeon Dr Natrajan Sezhian. He is engaged to his batch-mate and best friend, Dr Sanjana Parthiban. He met Sanjana in 2014, when they were in the first year of medical college, and he regards her as the reason he began writing in the first place. Ashwath said in one of his Instagram lives,
There’s a bit of her in every character I write. She is the one who breathes them to life.”
Career
He started writing quotes for Instagram in 2018, during his third year of MBBS. Over time, he developed a knack for writing short stories on the platform. Most of his ten-slide stories strike an emotional chord with the readers, and some, leave them petrified to their bones. In 2019, he published his first novel with Papertowns India. The book ‘An affliction of orchids’ was a psychotic thriller. In 2020, he graduated from his university and moved to England to pursue his further studies. His second novel came two years later, ‘When Varun Met Meera’ a college love story in 2021.
